Creative Work

Hello, I'm Haylee!
I’m a visual communicator and creative based in Utah with a background in graphic design, social media, content creation, and photography. I love turning ideas into visual stories—whether that’s building a brand, designing a campaign, creating social content, or finding a better way to communicate an idea.
My work is rooted in thoughtful design, clear communication, and a little bit of curiosity. I’m especially drawn to typography, layout, branding, visual storytelling, and the way design can make information feel more engaging and memorable.
I graduated from Idaho State University with a degree in Visual Communication with an emphasis in Design, and since then I’ve continued building experience through freelance work, social media management, marketing, and creative projects. I’m always learning, experimenting, and looking for new ways to bring ideas to life.
When I’m not designing, you’ll probably find me taking photos, working on a creative side project, exploring the outdoors, or finding something new to learn.
Summary
Spring 2026 graduate of Idaho State University with a B.A. in Visual Communication, Design Emphasis. I create visual identities, digital content, photography, and websites for small businesses and community organizations. I recognize the importance of file organization within projects. I prefer a busy workload and wearing many hats within roles - from graphic design, to video editing, to brand creation and management, and more. I enjoy juggling different tasks and projects.
Style
My work style is strategic, organized, and adaptable. I like to understand the purpose, audience, and goals of a project before jumping into the creative process. I work through ideas by sketching, exploring different concepts, getting feedback, and refining the final design. I enjoy collaboration and constructive feedback, while also being comfortable working independently and taking initiative.
My design style is bold, expressive, and concept-driven, with a strong focus on typography, layout, and visual hierarchy. I enjoy creating designs that are visually engaging while still communicating a clear message. I don't limit myself to one specific aesthetic because
I like adapting my approach to fit the project, audience, and intended purpose. My work often combines structured layouts with strong typography, visual contrast, and creative or experimental elements.

My Story
Creativity has been a constant for me. I grew up drawing, painting, and taking photos, and some of my earliest art memories are painting landscapes in oils with my great-grandmother. A love of technology, from robotics to web development to yearbook, led me to Visual Communication. I completed my associate degree online during high school, finishing a month before graduation, and started at Idaho State University that fall.
After my first year, I paused to serve a 19-month mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Highly structured days and constantly changing circumstances taught me discipline and adaptability. Volunteering at a local food bank taught me that good communication starts with listening.
I returned to finish my design degree, graduating in 2026. Along the way I interned in social media for the university, managed marketing for a small business, and started my own freelance studio, Haylee Creative.
I believe visual communication is powerful and should be used honestly: to make complex ideas clearer, support meaningful causes, and connect people. Typography, branding, layout, and visual storytelling are where I do my best work, and I'm always learning something new.
