Social Media Management

My social media experience spans higher education, nonprofit/volunteer work, small business, freelance projects, and personal brand management. I've worked as an intern for Idaho State University, as a  missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and as an employee for Sundae's. Additionally, I helped with social media for Idaho Mortgage and ran my own social media management.

Social Media Management

Content Strategy, Community Engagement & Digital Communication

Challenge

Managing social media requires more than creating attractive posts. Each platform needs content that communicates clearly, fits the audience, and encourages people to engage with the organization or brand.

Through my experience with Idaho State University, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Sundae's, and personal and freelance projects, I have worked with different audiences, goals, and content needs.

Approach

I approach social media as a form of visual communication. I consider the audience, the purpose of the content, the platform, and the action I want the viewer to take before deciding how the message should look and sound.

I also believe social media works best when it feels human. Alongside designed graphics, I use photography, video, short-form content, educational information, and conversational content to create a more varied and engaging presence.

Process

My responsibilities have included planning and creating content, designing graphics, writing captions and copy, editing photographs and video, publishing and managing posts, engaging with audiences, and adapting content for different platforms.

My experience includes Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok, along with personal experience creating and managing digital content for other platforms.

Final

My work has included branded social graphics, short-form video, promotional content, educational posts, photography, campaign content, and day-to-day social media management.

Rather than focusing on a single visual style, I adapt the creative approach to the organization, audience, and communication goal.

What I Learned

Social media has taught me that effective communication depends on understanding the audience before creating the content.

It has also strengthened my ability to work consistently, adapt quickly, balance multiple types of content, and combine design with communication strategy.
